Surfatron® specialty surfactants are a diverse family of product formulations that enhance wetting and emulsify or disperse oil, water and solids.
The surfactant family includes many CTI products generally used as cleaners and dispersing, foaming and wetting agents. These chemicals have the ability to reduce the surface tension of a liquid, the interfacial tension between two immiscible liquids and the contact angle between a liquid and a solid.
Applications include:
- Cleaning paraffin, oily sludge or scale from perforations or downhole equipment
- Preventing swelling of water-sensitive clays (surfactant flooding)
- Increasing injection rates or decreasing injection pressures in water injection systems
- De-watering low pressure, fluid-loaded gas wells
- Removing water blocks or emulsion blocks from around the well bore
- Preventing emulsions between crude oil and workover fluids or spent acid
- Intensifying acid reaction rate on carbonate scale and formations
- Cleaning floors, tools and equipment
- Surfactant flooding
- Improving performance of other products
Due to the wide variation of formation chemistries and production systems, most Sulfatron surfactant products are actually blends of two or more surfactants to provide a broad range of applicability and effectiveness.
Application Success
Project-specific surfactants are often key to application success. With a diverse range of surfactant chemistry available, CTI experts can quickly apply their field experience to find the most effective, economic solution. |
